With the election of the European Parliament and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, climate neutrality no later than 2050has become a European policy guideline and will be implemented as part of the European Green Deal. For the first time, climate protection was a top priority at the World Economic Forum in Davos in early 2020. There was a new quality to the discussions, as major financial investors resolutely called for more ambitious climate protection strategies from policymakers.
Green hydrogen and green hydrocarbons have a crucial role to play in a climate-neutral global economy: as substitutes for fossil fuels, as international commodities and as a future technological market. The focus of our annual report “Hydrogen: The time is right!“ picks up on this and shows how ZSW supports the transformation process: with the development of electrolysers and extraction of CO2 from air as well as with fuel cells and their realistic testing up to analyses of value chains and scenarios.
The annual report also presents scientific projects from all research departments and exemplarely highlights from the ZSW: the HyFaB research factory for fuel cells, the production of cobalt-free electrode materials for batteries in the 30-kg range, the optimisation of complex production processes through artificial intelligence, efficiency increases in CIGS-perovskite tandem solarcells, the status of our wind energy test site and the monitoring of the energy transition at federal and state levels.
In addition, we take a look back at events and provide facts and figures about the household or scientific publications.
We wish all readers of the ZSW Annual Report an interesting read! We would also be happy to send you a printed copy, please send us an e-mail with your contact details.
