// AutoStack CORE: Development and test of a 95-kW fuel cell stack

AutoStack-CORE is a joint European project with 14 partners from industry and research. The multi-stage undertaking aims to develop a PEM fuel cell stack with a rated output of 95 kW that is suitable for use in vehicles and in industry.

The ZSW departments involved in this project are the Fuel Cell Fundamentals Department (coordination of the research network), the Fuel Cell Stacks Department (component design, joining and installation methods) and the Fuel Cell Systems Department (stack tests and test analysis).

Project status (02/2016):

The first generation of stacks achieved a rated output of 100 kW and a power density of 2.7 kW/l or 2.0 KW/kg. At the ZSW testing facility, the first generation was successfully subjected for several weeks to dynamic load cycles that simulate road use. One week’s worth of load cycles is the equivalent of approximately 5,600 km. The hydrogen consumption at full load is 7.8 kg/h.

The second generation of stacks is in development and is set to achieve a power density of 3.4 kW/l or 2.8 kW/kg.

You can find further information about the AutoStack-CORE group on the project website, too.
