Deep-sea fuel cell system for long-term seafloor observation.
ZSW is developing a fuel cell-based energy supply for a seafloor observation system. Up to now, the observation system has been supplied with energy via batteries, with an operating time of up to four days.
By using a fuel cell system for the energy supply, the operating time can be extended up to three months. The picture shows a prototype of the highly compact fuel cell system, which is inserted into a titanium pressure tube for deep-sea use.
